|*bursts with pride*

Okay, so this is probably just a *me* thing, but I'm proud. |
Today I got to work and as per the usual routine, I went to bring up my remote connection to my home computer. Instant error. Hmmm.
Call the house and ask mom to please go turn that computer on. Although, I could swear I'd left it running.
She turns the computer on and verifies that the login screen appears. I try again. No go. Hmmmm.
So, tonight, I drive all the way out here to troubleshoot. Turns out there was a power outage last night and that's why the computer had shut down.
So my first thought is to reboot the network. Powercycle cable modem and router.
This gets me one step closer as now I'm actually getting the login screen, but it's telling me the password is invalid. Hrm.
I do a bit of digging and I cannot find anything out of place.
Then I do ipconfig. Guess what? The router, when rebooted, had assigned a .102 to that machine and .101 to this one. But it was configured to allow remote desktop to .101. HAHAHA. So, I go into the config and just shift all my numbers. Viola!!! We have liftoff.
Now, the reason this gets me all happy in my pants is the fact that I, Holly Selden, who (although she can set up networks and all that) am not exactly network savvy in the sense that I just *know* what to look for. But I fixed it. I should be back in communication tomorrow from work.
